Do you know a super teacher?

News from the Virginia PTA website:

Nominate a teacher for the Virginia Lottery Super Teacher Awards. The Super Teacher Awards are designed to honor outstanding Virginia public school teachers for their dedication and commitment. The Lottery seeks to pay tribute to those educators who go the extra mile each and every day to serve their students and their communities.
Nominations are being accepted until February 14, 2012.

 

2012 Citizenship Essay

Virginia PTA is proud to sponsor a Citizenship Essay Project. The 2011-2012 theme is “Community Responsibility”. This Essay Project allows students to express their views and opinions on “Character or Citizenship”. Virginia PTA is committed to promoting a sense of citizenship and responsibility in the lives of our children—tomorrow’s leaders.
Essays are due to District Directors by February 1.  Faxes are not permitted.


Virginia PTA Scholarships

Virginia PTA is proud to offer scholarships to graduating Virginia high school students planning to enter teaching or other youth-serving professions. Each year, two special scholarships are given—a $1,200 scholarship memorializing M. Frieda Koontz, the Executive Secretary of the SCA from 1922-1950, and a $1,200 scholarship honoring S. John Davis, Virginia’s Superintendent of Schools from 1979-1989. Additional $1,000 scholarships complete the scholarship awards package.

Theater production tomorrow at GES!

The PTA is bringing Barter Players from Abington out to GES tomorrow, Thursday, January 19 for 2 performance. PK-2 will start at 9 and 3-5 at 1:15.

They have a study guide available on-line for all levels, corresponding with the Virginia SOL's. You can see it HERE.

Many of the students have already been introduced to the show and stories from their teachers and library media center encore sessions with Mrs. Ray.

Discover wild imagination and fun of Rudyard Kipling's "How the Leopard Got His Spots", "How the First Letter Was Written" and other tales. A Group of madcap actors have gathered to outdo each other in telling these intriguing stories with lots of singing, dancing and laughs.
